throughout the history of interior design, gender plays a big role, highlighted in the early day's interior design and decoration. Decoration of the home was promoted towards women with the first books being published by Elsie de Wolfe in the the1900s showing housewives of the time how to decorate their homes as it was seen as an unintellectual pass time. later on down the line when books like '"A Woman's Place ..."? Women Interior Designers' by guara was written showing how women in the industry have made great changes and were unhappy that their status in the design possession meant that they faced difficulties. for example when Samual Harber wrote 'the influx of a significant number of women into any profession sorely endangered its elevated status. showing how he believes that if there are too many women in one industry it makes that section inferiorly to an industry with predominantly men. showing how even women at the turn of the century are being marginalised.
