HUGO COMTE - DUA LIPA

As a fan of Comte's work and the singer, songwriter Dua Lipa, I immediately noticed his work when Dua Lipa started promoting her new record and tour in October 2019. His photographs were used for her new album campaign and he was also in charge of the creative direction. Before hearing it, Comte's photographs really set the scene for the nostalgic pop and disco record. I love how he perfectly communicated the atmosphere of her new album and the change in the way she presents herself and her upcoming new music. Listening to the songs were elevating as in my mind, I was always brought back to the visual art Comte created for this incredible album and how perfectly directed it was.

'[Lipa] really believed in me and gave me complete creative freedom. [When] I'm on set with Dua Lipa, I need to understand the way she sees herself. I need to find a balance between the vision she has of herself and the vision I want to create for her. [Future Nostalgia] is based on change. Her whole character, all her music is redefined. The whole concept is based around the transition between nostalgia and future. She's very determined. She's like a Marvel [superhero] or a cartoon character. She has super powers; she's incredible.'
