This work explores the effect of wordless narrative.

It is a story about a violinist who might have experienced some bad things, ended up making himself a coffin and carried it to the cemetery. I do not say what happened to him before and what he chose to do in the end; this is an open-ended story up to the reader's interpretation. He might leave the cemetery and live his new life, or he might have died there and gone to heaven.

In this video, the story is told with no words – only music and illustration. But for comparison, it also contains a link to an earlier version, where the same story is told with words. When words are present or absent, what is gained and what is lost?

Sheen Che is studying MA Illustration at CCW. She is particularly interested in visual-textual/audio-visual translation, enjoys composing graphic novels, plays violin.
