Day Five and Six Reflection

On day Five and day Six we chose to create a costume piece, after looking through the groups design ideas we chose to make a top hat inspired by Tower Hamlets. To me the character that would wear this could be a powerful Tycoon that profits off the people who live in Tower Hamlets.

To execute this piece we painted cardboard pieces and held it together with hot glue. These materials were best suited to create our idea in the time we had to complete the prop, working in a group also made it so that it was much easier to finish in time.

After creating our piece we photographed it being worn by one of our group members and then displayed it with a light for others to view. When not worn it could easily double as a stage design maquette, making our piece have more than one purpose. We then decided to burn the piece to make a statement on the air pollution in Tower Hamlets, we would’ve had to dispose of the hat anyway so commemorate it, it was nice to have a film of it burning as well.
