Bleeding Ink

This graphic is a 2D visual representation created on procreate and photoshop. It s a sketch of a metal sculpture displaying two hands. One which is rooted to the ground acting as the support and the second hand which is suspended, relying on the support of the hand beneath.

In today’s day, the media is in great power with the ability to influence the thoughts of individuals on a global scale. However, they have a great responsibility which they do not always fulfil. This piece depicts how media has the power to hurt the common man by publishing news that is incorrect and can end up enticing hateful feelings. Through this piece I have attempted at bringing out this very concept.

The hand at the bottom represents the common man and the hand holding the pen displayed the power of the writing ord. The ink that is bleeding from the common man’s hand is symbolic of the hurt that can be caused by the misuse of such power.

The pen could be looked upon as a sword causing a warlike wound on the common mans had causing it to bleed.

I Decided to create a metal sculpture to show this idea and I intended on displaying it as an installation in a park as it is a place that is accessed by people from all walks of life. This piece therefore has an extremely broad audience and is aimed at drawing the attention of a large number of individuals in an attempt to make people conscious of what they believe and to encourage them to question the media as news can be influenced and biased. ideas factory.png
