5 hopeful experiences:

Nightmare tube experience

I was stranded in the tube alone at night (At that time I was quite new to the London overground- so it was a horrifying experience for me). Long-story short the tube had broken down and everyone had to go out. Luckily out of nowhere I met a really nice girl who was going to the same destination as me, we talked for a long time while the train was getting fixed, and we ended up walking together to our intended station, after being stranded for so long. (This gave me hope for believing that kind and trust worthy people exist).

Looking at the positive side of the pandemic

Despite the number of tragic things that have happened because of the pandemic, I also chose to focus on the positivity and fighting spirit that the people in the world has to offer. Seeing how close everyone have worked together throughout this year, gives me hope to see more people appreciate one another.

“Take things one thing at a time”

this quote gave me hope for a better progression in life, knowing that the progress to achieving something is always slow and not a lot at one time. Doing this one at a time, seems more forceable, looking back at the everyday progress I do gives me hope for a healthy future.

In the past struggling with personal issues, it made me realise that help is always there for you. Reaching out for both professional help, or even just help from a friend/family. Help is always there.

Advices from the lovely people at CSM

Being the self-conscious person that I sadly am, I had always have a bad habit of doubting myself too much, especially when it comes to my art. However throughout the course of this foundation, even when I am feeling less satisfied about my work, the tutors and also my classmates have always supported me and telling me that my work is great and worthy. It made me feel really loved and appreciated,, especially when I was truly sad. This made me realise that sometimes we may not see hope right away, we need to look at hope in a different perspective.

2 most memorable experiences

Being around positive people (in csm) will enable you to see hope from places you weren’t able to see hope

These experiences are most vivid to me because the first one happened out of a bad experience= thus it made me appreciate my destiny even more.

The second experience is vivid to me because my insecurities is one of my deepest struggles, and to have hope in that is very meaningful to me.

TUBE EXPERIENCE

What you saw= bright tube lights at first, then the really dark London sky

Smelled= nothing really, the mask made me feel a bit more claustrophobic during that situation

Heard= the London Underground guide sound commanding the passengers to get out of the train, shortly after I heard people shouting out of anger.

Touched= a bunch of taps on my phone, desperately finding a bus station, struggling to find the right map to go to the right destination.

How this affected you? In real time, I was full of anxiety, It was my first time riding the tube alone at night and walking alone at night. I was terrified because I was stranded in a station and I don’t know how else to get back. All that I was thinking was that “I’m never going out late again”

Where were you? I was in the Victoria line, Stranded in seven sisters station (luckily only 1 station away from my destination) where I was able to walk.

Who were you with? Alone at first, however after asking a question to a nice girl, we had small conversations and actually ended up walking together back to our intended destination safely.

Did this affect why it gave you hope? Because I was never a person to ever talk to strangers, although I just instinctively had to a person, and they ended up being so kind and “on the same boat”. Therefore from a terrifying experience, I can conclude that there is always hope when reaching out for help, and that kind people exist.

CSM

What you saw= I saw the people around me working, and I saw a genuine gaze that my friends and tutors gave to me

Heard= great advice and feedback about my work, inn a way that felt so encouraging- knowing that they’re opinions are worthy and truthful

Touched= Tangibly; art supplies, Though most importantly this experience touched my heart. Especially hearing advice from a professional who knows what constitutes to great art.

How this affected you? It made me feel better about myself to start off with, later it taught me many lessons about believing in myself and being hopeful over something. It also made me feel really great knowing how much people could bring so much hope.

Where were you? I was on campus (archway), such a lovely and motivating environment to be in.

Who were you with? Was with the most creative and dedicated young artists that I know of, and also kind and passionate csm tutors.

Did this affect why it gave you hope?

This experience was very personal and strangely hard to put into exact words, however it gave me hope in believing myself, in believing in other people’s kindness, knowing my worth, and knowing that hope is always there for you even if you may not see it.
