Animation

Here are some first ideas and sketches that came to me when trying to come up with an idea for my animation. I wanted to do something that was colourful and fun to watch, so i tried drawings different characters before settling on one that stood out to me.

Story

Once i had my rough ideas out, i decided to solidify my plan by doing a simple story board that i could follow once it came to drawing and animating.

Character

After i had my story planned out i wanted to choose a look for my main character. I decided to use a red and orange colour palette, and some stand out features such as his button nose or fanged teeth, whilst still keeping it fairly simple.

2 Second frames

We were given a template in a workshop that helped us pace ourselves by breaking down the slide by slide format into a 2 second clip. I decided to do one quick scene from when my character is saying good morning to the moon. i Broke it up by duplicating some of the scenes so that it would have a flow to it.

Staring to Animation

I decided to do my animation on Procreate. Im not that familiar with animating but i thought it was a good software to try it out on. I started off by doing simple flat line drawings, so that i could get the movement right before adding colour.

Colour

I chose a really colourful colour scheme because i like the cliche style of what a cartoon looks like.

Movement

To get the illusuion that my cartoon was moving, i did two drawings of the same shot, so that the slight differences woud give it some movement. I got this idea from watching Victoria Vincent's (vewn) animations on youtube. Shes like my favourite animator ever.

Layers

I did the animation layer by layer and added it together on imovie.

Finishing up

I put all of the scenes together on imovie and added some voice overs, music and sound effects to finish  it off. We had to make an animation that was 8-20 seconds long and mine ended up being 20 seconds long.

Feedback

This was the feed back i got and i thought it was really nice and helpful
