Geraldine Nishi:

I like how Nishi's work uses concrete--a heavy material--to resemble food like objects that are truely light, like whip cream and ice cream. This interests me because I feel the heavy and light contrast is so opposite, but the way the texture of the concrete is the textures of these light substances are easily replicated.

I felt drawn to her fruit necklaces because they appear like candied fruit with a thin layer of frosting. The texture of the concrete along with the soft colors of the fruit keep them inline with the lightness and playfulness of her ice cream and sweet pieces.
