THE SWAP
"Popular culture and the mass media have a symbiotic relationship: each depends on the other in an intimate collaboration." — K. Turner (1984)
Media culture refers to how the western society emerged and developed from the 20th century, 'under the influence of mass media'. It stands for the overall impact of the media, in terms of the way television as well as social media guides our intellect. The media not only shapes public opinion but also has an influence on our tastes and values.

WHO'S THE WOMAN, WHO'S THE MAN 1996 Movie (Sequel to He's A Man, She's A Woman)
My project partner's favourites are 'He's a woman she's a man' 1994 and it's sequel 'Who's the woman, who's the man?' 1996. This is a Hong Kong romantic comedy film directed by Peter Chan and starring Jordan Chan, Theresa Lee, Eric Tsang and Anita Yuen. In the movie, the protagonist is a girl who pretends to be a boy in order to make it in the music industry. The girl auditions, gets signed and falls for the producer all while pretending to be a boy. The producer on the other hands gets really confused because he finds himself becoming attracted to her (not knowing that she is a girl).

I hope to be able to incorporate these into my work as prints because I feel that the human figures would look good if they were to be repeated in different colours.
Fluxus
I decided to do some research on artistic movements and came across one i've never heard of before: Fluxus. This is an international as well as an interdisciplinary group of artists, designers, composers and poets that came about in the early 1960s to 1970s. A Dutch Art Critic named Harry Ruhé described the Fluxus movement as "the most radical and experimental art movement of the sixties".
George Maciunas, Fluxus Manifesto (1963).
What intrigued me about this movement is how inclusive it is. It's participants included artists, composers, designers, and architects, economists, mathematicians, ballet dancers, chefs, and so on. Not only this, but these individuals came from a variety of places and represented different nations within 3 continents – Asia, Europe, and North America.
