Eco Retreats Dyfi Valley, Wales UK
Situated deep within Welsh national forest land, accessible only by a long and winding unmetalled road lies Eco Retreats. Five tepees and an incredibly spacious yurt are scattered widely in a beautiful wooded valley complete with a gentle mountain stream running through the heart of the site.
Growing up in Manitoba, Canada, where there is a large Aboriginal population, I often saw tipi's being built for traditional activities. I really like that those traditional housing techniques and structures have been brought to the forest in Wales. The structure of tipis are really cool to me, because although they look really simple they can be very difficult to build unless everyone is working together. I love when the sticks are exposed at the top of the tipi and how the canvas stretches so smoothly.
