IDEA 1 C (something imposed on people to empower and educate) - INSTALLATION - the Kings Cross Tunnel

I walk through this tunnel every time I go to the Library. I realised if this is something that you have to walk through then this light installation is actually imposed on you and I always look at it, not because I want to but because its different and I have to walk through the tunnel.

If I were to create a campaign I think I would almost set it up as an installation and not like a general campaign as this so often seen as adverts in the tube and I personally never take the time to look at them. Something that is different and eye-catching however, I want to know more about.

It could be even more successful if there were an installation but other adverts about the installation- it would create more of a buzz around a campaign as it something to go and visit and also people will understand what it is about. Even though this would be pairing a boring option with an exciting one - it would be the most successful I think.

IDEA 9 A - CREATE A WHITE ROOM - create a space where forms are removed, a place that isn't busy, creates an atmosphere - Rothko, The Chapel

The chapel has been made was a place to go and reflect and anyone can go there. Its interesting that this place has been created for people to literally just think and reflect. Even though the emphasis of my work will be based around the theory of nothingness created by white being unemotional , it could be a very similar experience. I think that it is interesting that there is an emphasis on reflection and if this is just being or insinuates an emotion. I want to push my installation further to really focus on nothingness and just being. I think this will include lack of visual distractions so it will be literally nothing and will just be being.

It is also interesting that there is a clearly a focus on colour within the experience. Even for reflection perhaps the colour aspect of the environment is important as there may not necessarily be a topical focus or discussion point as there is no narrative. The colour can encourage a certain neutral feeling. I want to use it in the same but with white connoting no emotion at all.

IDEA 5 - PHOTOGRAPHY OF REMENICENT OBJECTS WITH PHOTOGRAPHY/ A CAMERA OF ITS TIME - Martin Parr - Home Sweet Home, Impressions Gallery, York, UK, 1974

IDEA 5 - PHOTOGRAPHY OF REMENICENT OBJECTS WITH PHOTOGRAPHY/ A CAMERA OF ITS TIME

Martin Parrs phtography to me gives me a nostalgic feeling. I think this is because of not only what he talked photographs of but also the effect the photograph. I think they show how you can tell how long a photograph was taken or what era it was taken in by the quality of the photo. Its as if each era has its own photograph quality.

I think this could be a really good observation to support my visualisation of 'reminiscing'.

Taking pictures of object from specific periods with that eras camera quality will be like a home video and almost like a trick but in reality just help the audience even more to feel also reminiscent.

IDEA 2 - CARRY ON BREEZEBLOCK INSTALLATION SERIES WITH DIFFERENT BRUTALIST ARCHITECTURE - blue crow media - brutalist london map

This is a map and leaflet of all the the brutalist buildings in london. I think this could be a perfect format if I were to create an alphabet of real life breeze block letters and pair them each with a brutalist building.

It could be alphabetical to match the name of the building if possible.

IDEA 1 A/B - SYMBOL OF EMPOWERMENT - for protest, to show support - The silence = Death project, 1987

This poster shows the symbol of a pink triangle. This is actually the reversed symbol that the Nazi gave to homosexual people to identify them. It became a symbol of empowerment and was the face of the AIDS activist movement.

To have a symbol that has been negative for so long to be turned on its head in a sign of rebellion and strength for people to identify with and stand behind is such a strong and important piece of graphics. The symbol in itself also is very strong and simple - graphically strong.

Perhaps I can apply this along with my symbol I created from women having to think to use an everyday object as a weapon and create all the posters, badges, t-shirts that would be used in a campaign or protest.

IDEA 1 C (imposing a view on people to empower and educate) - CAMPAIGN - Nike, Londoner

This campaign is something I saw just as an avert on youtube. Its odd because you actually start to feel riled up and proud to be in london and part of this community. I wonder if I can create this excitement and passion to help women feel proud and empowered.
