Sock chair-bed by PATRICK LAING

The idea for this design came from folding socks into each other: as the fabric folds in on itself, the appearance of the socks disappears producing an entirely different object. We developed this idea by conjoining shapes as if they were socks stitched together, and produced the sock chair-bed. This bed and two person couch has no solid parts. The conjoined ‘skins’ of the bed and couch have the same volume as each other, but with only enough filling for one function at a time. The filling simply flows from one cotton ‘skin’ to the other to plump out each form and the spare ‘skin’ is pushed inside the other when not in use.The Socks furniture is available to buy, contact us here.
